Local Motive’s Food and Music Celebration services range from weekly Harvest Box drop-off to full-service catered assemblies and residencies. Performances by various local performers include The Barefoot Profits, Afrikin’ Hoedown and Harambee to name a few. Each performance can include a Nankama Rhythm Circle and are very interactive for all ages.
The goal is towards satisfying all the senses with food as a focal point for eduction and community development, and Music as the backdrop for entertainment, socializing and stress relief. Beautifully prepared food alone will appeal to the senses of taste, smell, and sight - perhaps even touch, and the decorations, school contributions and ambiance of the event is sure to last in the memories of all who take part. The assemblies can be structured as fund raisers for residencies, or in conjunction with school needs to garner extra resources.
~Catered Fundraiser- A comprehensive, formal full-service catering proposal is likely to include the following elements:
*Time-line matters: preparation arrival time, staff arrival time, meal serve time, rental pickup, out-of-venue time, promotion and booking of performers.
*General menu considerations for individuals who may have specific dietary or religious needs to consider. these include Halal, Kosher, Vegetarian, Vegan and food allergy requests. Local Food Options are seasonal and reflect the need to adapt in diet with the changing produce. Focus can also be placed on specific cultural tastes, and allow the community to sample the cooking practices of various ethnic regions.
*Brunch and Evening options available for both meal and performances.
*Events can include working with an entire theme or color scheme, or to correspond with holidays and school rallies.
~Extented residency with school population - During the residency, students, staff and families learn about food related issues, cultural appreciation, team work, music, dance and song. Everybody takes charge of not only food preparation but also promotion, decorations, such as table settings and lighting, staging and filming. Classes also develop individual songs that are performed during the Food and Music Celebration. The food may be prepared on site, i.e., made completely at the event, or catered, with the school putting the finishing touches on once it arrives.
